Best Chrysler Scan Tools in 2022

Best Chrysler Scan Tools

It’s no secret that visiting the mechanic could end up being quite an expensive trip. So wouldn’t it be better to just perform the repair yourself? Well, it definitely would. And even if you don’t think that you will be able to fix your car or another vehicle yourself, it still makes things easier for the mechanic who doesn’t have to perform the diagnostic of the whole vehicle.

Unfortunately, very often it is not possible to find out what is wrong with your vehicle without professional equipment – and it’s impossible to fix things you have no idea are not working. That’s why, in this article, I will go through some of what I consider to be the best Chrysler scan tools in 2022.

Keep in mind that the best OBD2 scanner for Dodge might be different than the one for Chrysler, which is why I specified the vehicle’s manufacturer.

My Pick – FIXD™ Professional Bluetooth OBD2 Scan Tool

Choosing only one device was extremely difficult as all of them have some features that make them a great scan tool. However, I feel like the FIXD™ Professional Bluetooth OBD2 Scan Tool  was the one that stole my heart the most.

I won’t get into details now, as I will talk about each individual model a bit later, but just know that it must have been a REALLY great tool for me to pick it as number one.

Top 3 Chrysler Scan Tools in 2022

One tool is not enough to make a list, so let me go ahead and share with you some other devices that might be worth considering purchasing for your Chrysler:

  1. FIXD™ Professional Bluetooth OBD2 Scan Tool – an overall great choice for those on a budget.
  2. Autel Maxisys Elite – connects via a wireless connection.
  3. Foxwell NT301 Professional Scanner – on-screen DTCs and definitions.

So, now that you know my picks, let me tell you more about each of them.

#1 FIXD™ Professional Bluetooth OBD2 Scan Tool

The first position on my list is taken by the FIXD™ Professional Bluetooth OBD2 Scan Tool. If you’re on a budget and looking for a Chrysler scan tool that would provide you with everything a high-end device would, then this is honestly one of the best choices you can make.

The device is like a little mechanic, telling you what is wrong with your vehicle, how worried you should be about it (aka how severe it is), and how much, on average, the repair would cost you. Aside from basic features, it can perform slightly more advanced diagnostics, such as the ABS test, airbag test, etc.

Additionally, if you have a few vehicles sitting in your garage, you can connect the different scan tools to one account, so that you have all the information within one device, which is your smartphone.

Another thing that convinced me to put this Chrysler diagnostic tool as number one is the fact that it monitors your mileage and it notifies you when you’re in need of a maintenance visit at the garage.

However, despite all the positive things I can say about it, the FIXD™ Professional Bluetooth OBD2 Scan Tool also has some disadvantages – one of them being the fact that it is very often out of stock. As you can imagine, I’m not the only one who really likes this scan tool, which is why it is often unavailable.

Another thing is that it doesn’t read transmission temperature, which means that despite the impressive amount of issues it can identify, there are still some that can be left unattended due to the tool simply not being able to recognize them.

Basic Parameters

Manufacturer FIXD
Dimensions1.5 x 0.5 x 1.75 inches
Weight0.96 ounces
CompatibilityMost vehicles manufactured after 1996

  • Affordable
  • Tells you all you need to know about what is wrong with your vehicle
  • It monitors your mileage
  • You can connect several scan tools to one account

  • Often out of stock
  • Doesn’t read transmission temperature

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a scan tool that will act as your private mechanic and tell you all about the things that aren’t working properly in your vehicle, then this is definitely the one. There are so many positive things that can be said about it that they outweigh the negatives.

My Rating: 4.9/5

#2 Autel Maxisys Elite

Autel Maxisys Elite

The second Chrysler code reader I think you should consider is the Autel Maxisys Elite. Now, this is definitely on the pricey side. However, considering what you’ll get for that price, I’d say that is surely worth taking into consideration (depending on your budget of course).

So, why is it such a great option? Well, probably the most important feature I need to mention is that it has over 35 different service functions. Whether you want it to read and clear codes, provide live data streaming or show the ECU information, the scan tool can do it.

Secondly, it also features ADAS Calibration which allows you to reconfigure the parking sensors, as well as other driver assistance functions. Another thing worth talking about is the battery, or rather the extended battery life and intelligent power saving.

However, probably the thing that will interest you the most is the fact that instead of a cable, the Autel Maxisys Elite connects with your vehicle via a wireless connection, which means that you don’t have restricted movement when diagnosing it – you can walk around your vehicle all you want.

One of the biggest disadvantages of this Chrysler scanner is the fact that it is only compatible with vehicles that have been manufactured after 2018, so if yours is older than that, the scan tool will most likely not work with it. However, if you’re an owner of a newer vehicle, then this is definitely a device you should consider.

Another thing that doesn’t work in its favor is something we already mentioned – the price. The Autel Maxisys Elite is definitely pricey, so if you’re looking for an affordable solution, this is certainly not it.

Basic Parameters

Manufacturer Autel
Dimensions25.6 x 7.5 x 16.9 inches
Weight‎2.2 pounds
CompatibilityVehicles manufactured after 2018

  • Over 35 different service functions
  • ADAS Calibration
  • Extended battery life and intelligent power saving
  • Connects with your vehicle via a wireless connection

  • Only compatible with vehicles manufactured after 2018
  • Quite expensive

The Bottom Line

If you can afford to spend a little bit more on your Chrysler scan tool, then the Autel Maxisys Elite is definitely one to pay attention to. Sure, it is pretty expensive, but keep in mind that this is something that will last you for years to come.

My rating: 4.8/5

#3 Foxwell NT301 Professional Scanner

Foxwell NT301

On the closing position of my list I put the Foxwell NT301 Professional Scanner. If you’re looking for a scanner that does its job without making a dent in your pocket, then this is it. It is often used by professionals, so you can be sure that it’s a tool worth considering since even mechanics use it at work.

The scanner comes with a USB cable so that you can transfer data and upgrade it when necessary, as well as a manual. One thing I wish was included in the packaging is a protective case, but, as they say – you can’t have everything.

Also, keep in mind that if you’re looking for a more advanced tool that will show you things like the state of your airbag system, then you might want to check out another device. However, what it does provide you with is features like live frame freeze data, as well as a very intuitive interface that makes using it a breeze.

Basic Parameters

Manufacturer FOXWELL
Dimensions‎3.7 x 1.26 x 5.71 inches
Weight1.32 pounds
CompatibilityMost vehicles manufactured after 1996

  • Simple to use
  • Affordable
  • Provides very accurate definitions of the trouble codes

  • Doesn’t come with a case
  • Doesn’t perform more complicated tasks, like ABS diagnostics

The Bottom Line

So, is it a good Chrysler scan tool? Definitely, otherwise, I wouldn’t have put it on my list. It’s affordable, it’s easy to use and it’s precise – what more can you ask for, right?

My rating: 4.75/5
